Ground-Fault Electrical Protection is designed with only you in mind. They are designed to protect you against any abnormal electrical spike that may be harmful. When that happens the GFCI trips the power to the off position until the electrical circuit returns to safe conditions. In order to turn power back on, you will need to reset the button on the GFCI device. If power trips back off then there is a safety issue with the electrical outlet that could hurt you and you should portably call an electrician. 

Basically they act as “overprotective parents” making sure that you are safe whenever you are using electrical around water.

 


Where does GFCI Protection Get Installed?

GFCI electrical protection needs to be installed wherever water is present or on older homes that do not have a ground wire throughout their home. 

Required GFCI locations in your home: Bathrooms, Kitchen Countertops, Basements, Garages, Outdoors, Laundry, Etc.

Ground-fault protection was introduces during the late 60’s. It was largely developed to combat the numerous emergency room visits resulting from home electrocutions.
