Home Smoke Detectors & Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Where To Install & How Long Do They Last?

Home smoke detector Information and requirements.

How Long do Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors Last?

There is NO home smoke or Carbon Monoxide detector on the market that lasts over 10 years. They begin to degrade passed the acceptable point of response time in case of a fire.

Ask Us - We run special programs to make sure safety like this is done in EVERY home. Summary Note: Swap smoke detector every 10 Years, don't wait.

Where Do I Need To Install Smoke Detectors?

Smoke detectors need to be installed in all bedrooms. This is due to the fact that you can close the door (especially during the night sleeping). It may seem redundant, but you don't want to be on the other side of this equation, seriously.

Required Locations: Smoke detectors in ALL bedroom areas and offices (rooms with doors)

Where Do I Need To Install Carbon Monoxide Detectors?

Carbon Monoxide detection is not a safety measure that you want to skip over. Unlike smoke, Carbon monoxide does not smell. It starts by becoming light headed leading to a lot worse.

Required Locations: Smoke/carbon monoxide combo detectors One per floor in common area (exceptions for larger floor plans “square footage”)

Should Detectors Communicate With Each Other?

All Detectors in your home should interconnect with each other. So when one goes off in the basement, then the one the bedroom goes off too. This is for the obvious reason for when you are sleeping or in another room, you will be alerted to the hazard in the house.

Nowadays wireless technology has really come along way and is quite reliable. No need to run electrical wires to power these anymore.
